Beyond the Binder: Reinventing RA Training with Canvas Webinar

Beyond the Binder: Reinventing RA Training with Canvas Webinar

Thursday, April 16, 2026 (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Part of our Conference Highlights Series! Resident Assistant training at Florida Institute of Technology traditionally relied on intensive in-person sessions. We redesigned training using Canvas (learning management system) to create a blended model—moving policy and resource content online and reserving in-person time for scenarios, discussion, and team-building—providing a replicable framework to improve RA preparedness, consistency, and engagement.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Participants will be able to evaluate components of traditional RA training and identify strategies for delivering foundational content through a learning management system to enhance staff preparedness and engagement.
  • Participants will be able to design elements of a blended training model that shifts foundational content online while using in-person sessions for applied learning and skill development.
