Craig Nance is an accomplished leader in law enforcement and higher education, with extensive experience in public safety, compliance, and student affairs. He has held key positions as Chief of Police at both the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and Grambling State University, as well as Deputy Chief of Police at the University of Chicago. Throughout his career, Craig has developed a strong understanding of compliance reporting, particularly in areas such as the Clery Act and Title IX, and has gained valuable expertise in working with college student populations.
Currently, Craig oversees the Office of Community Standards, where he plays a pivotal role in several critical areas:
• Student Policies and Conduct: He leads efforts in managing student policies, overseeing the student conduct process, and ensuring compliance reporting in alignment with institutional and federal standards.
• Compliance Reporting: Craig is responsible for Clery Act and Title IX compliance, ensuring the university meets all legal and regulatory requirements in these areas.
• Student Conduct Management: He addresses student behavior issues, facilitates the resolution of conduct cases, and ensures appropriate follow-up actions are taken.
• Hearing and Conflict Resolution: Craig coordinates student conduct meetings and hearings, serving as the Hearing Administrator for Title IX cases. He works closely with the Title IX Coordinator to manage these cases effectively.
• Community Training: Craig provides training to faculty, staff, and students on the university’s student code of conduct policies and reporting processes.
• Dispute Resolution: He consults on conflict resolution matters, helping mediate disputes between students, faculty, and staff.
• Emergency and Compliance Leadership: As a key member of the university’s Emergency Response Team and Compliance Sub-Committee, Craig contributes to broader safety and compliance initiatives.
