Part of our Back to School Series! For the curious, beginners, and skeptics, I tried AI so that you don’t have to. With the rise of AI, questions surrounding its ethics and benefits have also arisen. This presentation will explore the research, opinions, and recommendations in how to use AI effectively and create appropriate policies.

Learning Outcomes 

1. Participants will be able to identify general AI terms, strategies for good prompt writing, and at least one AI tool to consider in their own work.
2. Participants will analyze ethical uses of AI for administrative tasks, including considerations for accessibility.
3. Participants will synthesize research and AI testing methods to inform AI recommendations for practice or policies at their institutions.

Angela Lowe, M.Ed. (She/Hers)
Angela Lowe has worked in higher education for a decade and currently serves as a Senior Academic Advisor at the University of Colorado, Denver. She received her B.A. in Art and M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership and continues her educational interests with an in progress M.S. in Management. Previous higher education experience also includes general administration, residence life, and student conduct. For the past year, Angela has conducted personal research on AI in higher education to stay informed of an ever-expanding and changing technology, including a committee on AI practices at her current institution. Her intent with this AI research and testing is to try this technology on behalf of other professionals. She previously presented at ACPA 2026 Convention on AI practices and hopes to continue helping peers to have a well-rounded base of information to inform their own practices and departmental or institutional policies.
