The Hidden Curriculum of Student Conduct for First-generation College Students Webinar

The Hidden Curriculum of Student Conduct for First-generation College Students Webinar

Wednesday, February 26, 2025 (1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) (EST)

Description

Winner of the 2025 ASCA Dissertation of the Year Award! First-generation college students are a growing population on our campuses. Among the unique challenges they face is the burden of navigating the hidden curriculum of college life. The hidden curriculum can show up throughout the student conduct process, resulting in an inequitable learning and growth experience for these first-generation students. Join us for an interactive discussion focusing on ways to assess and refine our policies and procedures to enhance first-gen students' access to and growth from interacting with our conduct systems.

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify aspects of your conduct program that may not be as accessible to first-generation students due to the hidden curriculum (CSAEd™ Domain: Social Justice and Inclusion)

  • Consider the amount of demographic information available to conduct administrators through their process (and software platforms) through the lens of implicit bias and ethical responsibility (CSAEd™ Domain: Social Justice and Inclusion)

  • Use data to assess for systems of oppression in your institution’s charge and sanction practices (CSAEd™ Domain: Assessment & Evaluation)
