SC 101/201/301 Modules:
To successfully complete a module and receive the Certificate of Completion, the participant must attend all sessions of the module.
- "Module" refers to the entirety of a course. There are five modules.
- "Session" refers to the individual sessions in each module.
Each module will have eight hours' worth of sessions. To receive a completion certificate, you must attend all sessions. The participant may sign up for multiple modules in a semester. Please note that none of the sessions will be recorded to be watched at a later time.
SC 101: Core Skills
Recommended for: Conduct practitioners who are newer to the role, or seasoned professionals who are newly taking on conduct as part of their role.
This module focuses on two primary content areas. First, participants will develop an understanding of the history and legal issues of the profession, especially in terms of due process and case law. Secondly, practitioners will engage in basic skill development around interviewing, resolution, equity and accessibility in the process, strong record management, and collaborating with campus offices.
Note: Four hours of this module will be asynchronous (recorded) and four hours will be synchronous (virtual).
Faculty: Dr. Joe De Gearo and Dr. Matt Khoury
Synchronous Dates and Times:
- March 20, 2025 from 2pm-3:30pm ET
- March 26, 2025 from 2pm-3pm ET
- April 1, 2025 from 2pm-3:30pm ET
SC 101: Pathways to Resolution
Recommended for: Conduct practitioners at any level seeking more ideas and development around alternate resolution (sanction) outcomes.
This module focuses on the effective use and development of multiple pathways for resolving matters within student conduct processes. As the field of student conduct has evolved over time, so have the tools used by administrators to resolve cases through different formats.
From informal measures to a formal hearing, restorative practices, and proactive efforts to establish environments where students can thrive, there are a myriad of ways student conduct professionals can address concerning behaviors and alleged violations of policy. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the differences between various resolution options; develop skills to determine when each option is appropriate; and determine how to effectively facilitate those pathways.
Faculty: Dr. Valerie Glassman and Ron Alexander

- March 28, 2025 from 1pm-4pm ET
- April 11, 2025 from 2:30pm-4:30pm ET

SC 201: Title IX and Sexual Discrimination, Harassment, & Misconduct
Recommended for: Conduct practitioners who have direct responsibilities for Title IX investigation, policy and procedure writing/review, Title IX education outreach, etc.
This module focuses on the foundations of Title IX; the implementation of new regulations; as well as the impact of early 2025 political changes in all institution settings. Sessions will include training on investigative and interview skills, trauma-informed practices, avoiding bias, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and how campuses and organizations can engage in education and outreach.
The module will also cover sexual discrimination, harassment, and misconduct, protections and promising practices for GSM (Gender and Sexual Minoritized) communities, pregnant and parenting students, and adjusting compliance as per state legislative limitations. All content will reference the most up to date information on Title IX.

This module will focus on the operationalization of crisis and risk management (e.g., a threat assessment analysis) on campus or in an organization. Sessions will include forming a crisis response team, developing an effective risk management plan, and communicating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
Particular attention will be paid to expressive activity (e.g., protests, freedom of expression) on campus or in organizations; intersections with Title VI; incidents involving athletics, student organizations, or criminal investigations; campus violence (e.g., active shooters); and managing confidentiality during crises. The module will also provide instruction and tools on avoiding/minimizing liability, responding to media, and managing the impacts of trauma and secondary trauma on the campus or organization community.
Faculty: Dr. Kristin Ridge and Dr. Rachael Stark

SC 301: Policy & Procedure Review: An Equity-Informed Approach
Recommended for: Conduct practitioners who are more seasoned in their role and have foundational or intermediate experience with equity issues, experience with project management and large-scale institutional or organizational changes, and decision-making around policies and procedures. Note: This module is capped at 20 participants.
The 301 level is a new offering in Spring 2025. This highly requested module will focus on preparing and implementing an equity-informed revision of your policies and procedures.
Sessions will include: forming an effective plan to review policies and procedures, including identifying and changing biased language or practices; creating buy-in from internal and external stakeholders (with particular attention paid to buy-in from executive leadership as well as Boards of Trustees or Regents); supporting and managing advocacy and student rights; assessment as an equity tool; and not only avoiding bias but actively seeking to incorporate justice to ensure an accessible and equitable practice.
While some time will be spent addressing current state legislation and how to create a campus with belonging, it is recommended that practitioners enrolling in this module have some autonomy related to equity-infused change.
