Participants will examine practical strategies for integrating restorative approaches into conduct systems while maintaining procedural fairness, improving student outcomes, and fostering more relational campus cultures.

Learning Outcomes 

1. Participants will be able to identify practical entry points within existing student conduct processes where restorative practices can be integrated to enhance accountability, learning, and resolution efficiency.
2. Participants will be able to outline a basic implementation approach for restorative conduct options, including role clarity, decision criteria, and foundational structures needed to support consistent and sustainable practice across institutional contexts.

Dr. Ben Williams
Ben Williams is a student affairs leader and Associate Dean of Students whose work sits at the intersection of student conduct, care, and restorative practice. He focuses on how restorative approaches can be meaningfully embedded into conduct systems, not as an “add-on,” but as a practical way to strengthen accountability, learning, and community repair. His work emphasizes making these approaches usable in real institutional contexts, from small campuses to large public universities, with attention to staff capacity, case complexity, and operational efficiency. Ben has helped translate restorative principles into conduct & Title IX pathways that support timely resolution, reduce repeat engagement, and create more coherent experiences for students navigating accountability processes and understand the impact of their actions.
