Faculty Addressing Behavioral Concerns Related to Students with Disabilities Webinar
Friday, February 28, 2025 (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM) (EST)
Description
The intersectionality of disabilities and student conduct administration is well-researched, but typically through the lens of the student or within the PK-12 setting. This webinar will look at the experiences of a small group of faculty in a community college setting who addressed behavioral concerns related to students with disabilities (SWDs). The themes that surfaced through this research included faculty training, decision-making factors, and lived experiences including the emotional toll (secondary trauma) carried by faculty.
Learning Outcomes
- Participants will learn skills related to infusing equity in the conduct process through alternative dispute resolution methods (CSAEd™ Domain: Social Justice and Inclusion)
- Participants will be able to identify process barriers and possible impacts on faculty that will advise their own conduct administration practices (CSAEd™ Domain: Foundations of the Profession)
- Participants will be able to identify best practices around training and communication to increase preparedness of faculty leading to more inclusive practices that support SWDS(CSAEd™ Domain: Social Justice and Inclusion)
