This introduction to the cultural humility tenets developed by Tervalon and Garcia-Murray (1998) will provide the ability to use your lived experience as your greatest asset to connect with students, faculty, staff, and community members while balancing compliance and advocacy.

This session is approved to offer CE credits for Student Affairs Educator Certification. The code is CSAEd-SC-53.

Presenter Bio
Dr. Aura Cazares (She/Her/Hers) is a transformational leader who employs the utmost ethical and intentional strategies to uphold the institutional mission and vision while leaning into her lived experience as a first-generation, brown-immigrant to address systemic gaps that preclude student success through innovation and cultural humility. Her 22-year tenure in higher education includes employing Spanish fluency and analytical skills to lead enrollment management and development of campus-wide regulatory guidance necessary to safeguard the campus community and uphold federal and state laws specific to Title IX, Clery, Drug and Alcohol Prevention Program, and the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act.  Utilizes the application of innovative tactics and cultural humility principles to raise awareness of mental health and well-being programs.  In her spare time, she binge-watches the Great British Bake Off, Abbott Elementary, and Gilmore Girls, and spends time with family and friends.
