Wednesday, June 10, 2026 (11:30 AM - 12:30 PM) (EDT)

Description

Creating Safer School Climates Through Student Voice

This webinar is sponsored by ASCA's Business Partner, Lightspeed Systems

When students feel heard, campuses become safer. Yet student voice remains one of the most underutilized resources in campus safety work. This panel brings together higher education safety and student conduct professionals to explore practical, frontline- tested strategies for engaging students in threat awareness, early intervention, and the ongoing work of building a more secure and supportive campus climate. Drawing on their direct experience, panelists will examine what it takes to earn student trust, what actually moves the needle on reporting and hazing prevention, how institutions can close inter-departmental communication gaps, and how student perspectives have shaped real change in campus safety culture.

Panelists & Moderator

  • Kevin J. Hytten, Ed.D., Training Coordinator, Division of Safety and Compliance, University of Vermont
  • Pete Anders, Chief of Police, Millersville University
  • Moderator: Jen Stevenson, Senior Student Conduct Office and CLERY Compliance Liaison, Illinois State University
