UAlbany offers a restorative process through the Community Reengagement Program (CoRe), which assists students in taking a productive approach to re-engaging with the campus community. The program was reimagined to encourage increased student participation and active engagement. The presenters will share the vision behind CoRe’s reimagining and a way forward.

ASCA has been approved by the Higher Education Consortium for Student Affairs Certification to provide CE credit for Certified Student Affairs Educators (CSAEdTM). Programs that qualify for CE credit in this program are clearly identified. ASCA is solely responsible for all aspects of this program. Program Code: CSAEd-SC 73

Learning Outcomes

  • Participants will become knowledgeable about the principles of restorative justice and information about the University at Albany’s restorative approach to the disciplinary process which holds students accountable and promote their education and holistic development.

  • Through the review of practical steps and discussion on how to adapt UAlbany’s approach to restorative justice, participants will learn how to adjust and streamline educational practices and become inspired to identify alternative approaches to their campus conduct processes to enhance student development and ethical decision making.

Presenter Bios

Adrianna Bradt (she/her/hers) Adrianna currently serves as a Student Conduct Coordinator for Community Standards in the Dean of Students Office at the University at Albany. Prior to joining the University at Albany in 2022, Adrianna worked at multiple public and private colleges responding to, overseeing and investigating student conduct and sexual misconduct referrals. Adrianna also has a background in developing and implementing educational and prevention programming focused on behavioral misconduct, accountability and conflict resolution, and interpersonal violence prevention. Adrianna received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and recently completed her master’s degree in criminal justice with a concentration in crime causation, prevention, and intervention, from the University at Albany. Alexandra (Lexi) Athens (she/her/hers) currently serves as a Student Conduct Coordinator for Community Standards in the Dean of Students Office. Lexi joined the University at Albany in 2019 as a resident director on Dutch Quad. She also worked as an academic advisor in the Academic Support Center. Prior to joining UAlbany, she was a resident director at SUNY Brockport. Lexi received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and communication from SUNY Geneseo and completed her master’s in higher education and student affairs administration from Canisius College. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in educational policy and leadership, with a concentration in higher education, from UAlbany. Contact: aathens@albany.edu
