Position Description

Louisiana State University invites applications for the position of Residential Accountability Manager working with conduct within Student Advocacy & Accountability (SAA) and Residential Life. Reporting to both the Associate Dean and Director of SAA and the Assistant Director for Residential Policy, this position functions as a key leader in the Accountability area, supervising a Residential Accountability Coordinator. The Residential Accountability Manager provides leadership and direction to all areas of residential student conduct including but not limited to supporting institutional case management, oversight of educational outcomes, collaboration with SAA and Residential Life on conduct officer training, evaluation of hearing officers, and works on special projects that may include policy development and review, data analysis, and departmental assessment. This position will assist in managing the Maxient database, assisting with the collection of Clery data on behalf of the department, and Public Records Requests for SAA and Residential Life. 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Serves as a case manager and conduct officer responsible for the prompt, impartial, thorough, and equitable investigations of allegations and adjudication of the Code of Student Conduct, the Living on Campus Handbook and other University policies.

  • Supports case management through monitoring accountability case timelines, follow-ups, and assisting as needed.

  • Provides university and departmental reports including, but not limited to: Clery data reporting, public records requests, and Maxient database management.

  • Supervises a Residential Accountability Coordinator, including the oversight of their continued professional development and success.

  • Provide oversight of accountability case educational outcomes- including evaluation and development of additional outcomes- initiatives for proactive outreach to educate students on the Code of Student Conduct and Residential Life policies—including outreach and collaboration with faculty and staff.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR LEADERSHIP:

  • Enhance On-Going Development of Case Managers: Residential Education staff work as an extension of the accountability process serving as case managers, among other job responsibilities. The Residential Accountability Manager has the opportunity to evaluate current practices and develop and enhance training for case managers to improve students’ overall experience with the residential conduct process. Through focusing on developing entry-level and graduate staff, elevating concerns to supervisors to address in a timely manner and maintaining a process that is fair and equitable to students, the Manager will transform the traditional conduct process into one that can have a positive impact during what can be a challenging moment in a student’s educational experience.

  • Transform Educational Outcomes: Building upon existing relationships and leveraging available data, the Residential Accountability Manager will assist with the analyzation of current educational outcomes for violations of the Code of Student Conduct and assist in the creation of new educational outcomes for the campus community.  The Residential Accountability Manager will have the opportunity to develop programs, initiatives, and outcomes that can make lasting impacts on student success.

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS PRIORITIES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct Student Support (50%) Oversee the execution of administering the Code and Residential Life policies within Residential Life communities. Assist with sanction/outcome management. Provide training for in-community staff members to carry out due process as outlined in the Code and/or alternate resolution procedures. Direct the intake of cases including reviewing and proofing incident reports, assigning cases to in-community staff. Serve as a case manager for conduct cases.

  • Leadership & Management (25%) Direct supervision, training, and continued development for 1 Residential Accountability Coordinator. Assist in measuring and reporting key results relating to learning objectives, resources available to students, trends with students, student impact metrics, including tracking caseloads and case closure rates. Assist with the management of Maxient case management system. Demonstrates divisional attitudes and priorities in all aspects of work.

  • Program Oversight (15%) Assist with developing operational strategy and oversight for the student conduct case management, support for case managers, Clery data reporting, public records request, and educational outcomes. Provide support for the University Hearing Panel process. Plans, organizes, administers, and delivers programming to students, faculty, and staff regarding SAA/Residential Life, the Code, and University policies.

  • Quality Control (5%) Ensure all student conduct processes within Residential Life meet high standards, including case management, timely communication, and thorough documentation. Oversee resource allocation to enhance effectiveness and alignment with divisional objectives. Advocate for continuous improvement and ensure balanced support of advocacy and accountability in all interactions.

  • Other Duties (5%) Attend SAA and Residential Education staff meetings. Other duties as assigned by supervisors. This includes but is not limited to: crisis response for major events, efforts that support broad division/institution efforts including at least 40 hours per year spent helping divisional initiatives such as Move-In Day, Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Career Expo, Disability Services Finals Testing, other special projects etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, or a closely related field and 3 years of full-time experience OR Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, or a closely related field and 1 year of full-time experience. Graduate Assistantships count as a 1/2 year.

  • Some supervisory and/or leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel administration, or a closely related field.

  • 3+ years experience. Experience working with students in crisis. Experience with student conduct, specifically residentially-based.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:

Ability and willingness to work frequent evening and weekend hours.

As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

In accordance with University Policy Statement 18, this position is considered essential and may be required to report or stay on campus in the event of emergency or closure.
