Position Description

Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a leadership role that oversees all functions of the Office of Student Conduct. The Director of Student Conduct Programs ensures that students’ rights are protected, and University behavior standards are enforced. Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as the Chief Student Conduct Officer to establish community standards and expectations, promote student learning and support the safety and wellbeing of the campus community.

  • Administers the Student Code of Conduct. Directs overall operations of the student conduct process for the University, including investigating behavioral concerns, tracking student conduct reports and coordinating the student conduct appeal process for the institution.

  • Manages and facilitates the academic integrity process for the University.  Serve as an intermediary between faculty and students in academic integrity cases.

  • Lead the student conduct process, partner with Residence Life to investigate and manage conduct violations involving residential students.

  • Perform investigations of complaints and evaluate alleged violations, including interviewing involved parties, analyzing case materials and writing investigative reports.

  • Interpret case law and possess an understanding of student conduct, within a university setting.

  • Evaluate reports, determine reasonable sanctions and appropriate outcomes to support fairness and transparency of process for both residential and commuter students.

  • Train and educate the University community on the Student Conduct and Academic Integrity process, current legal parameters, fundamental fairness and due process.

  • Organizes and generates reports for the department.

  • Develop, implement and create policies for the Student Code of Conduct, hearing board standards and operating procedures in accordance with university policy, federal, state and local laws.

  • Direct the maintenance, archiving and destruction of confidential student files, including administration of the software database (Maxient), records of students, and holds.

  • Chair the CARE/BIT team which supports behavioral interventions for students.
  • Partner with University Police on Clery stats reporting.

  • Collaborates with various University departments to facilitate effective communication and ensure fulfillment of the student code procedures.

  • Research current legal issues, academic integrity, trends in higher education and student conduct.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
