Position Description

The Coordinator of Student Conduct serves as a member of the Office of Student Conduct. The position reviews, processes, and adjudicates alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct; Honor Code; Policy on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation (Title IX); and other University policies by students and student organizations. The Coordinator serves as an investigator for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct; Honor Code; Policy on Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Retaliation (Title IX); and other University policies by students and student organizations. The position organizes and facilitates educational outreach, training, and awareness for students, student organizations, faculty, and staff regarding Academic Integrity, Student Code of Conduct, and other University policy. The position will also (1) Assists in maintaining conduct records and database software; (2) Serves as a member of the Sexual Misconduct Response Team (SRT); and (3) Serves as an alternate and ad hoc representative for the Case Assessment, Review, and Evaluation (CARE) Team and Student of Concern (SOC) Team. The position will regularly respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Conduct. The Coordinator may supervise administrative, graduate, intern, or student staff.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Investigates alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct; Honor Code; Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking; and other University policies and procedures involving students or student organizations, utilizing learned methods and techniques to draw informed conclusions, while applying the appropriate evidentiary standard; coordinates investigations with appropriate University and community agencies; and prepares written report of investigation findings, which include all pertinent facts, information, and evidence.

  • Supports the administration of the Student Conduct process, serving as an administrator for all alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct; Honor Code; Policy on Sexual Harassment, Sexual Assault, Dating and Domestic Violence, and Stalking; and other University policies and procedures involving students or student organizations; analyzes and evaluates alleged misconduct to make recommendations on the appropriate investigation, adjudication, or closing procedures; and serves as a University Hearing Officer for any alleged violations of University policy, evaluating complex information in order to render a decision utilizing the incumbent's training, professional judgment, University policy, and federal and/or state law.

  • Facilitates training for faculty on addressing Academic Integrity (Honor Code) and behavioral (Student Code of Conduct) violations; facilitates training for students on Academic Integrity (Honor Code) and behavioral (Student Code of Conduct) violations; and organizes and facilitates training for the Honor Code Board and Student Conduct Board.

  • Assists in maintaining conduct records and database software; coordinates educational outreach and awareness for students, student organizations, and faculty regarding Academic Integrity, Student Code of Conduct, and other University policy; and responds to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, parents, and members of the community, as well as assist with managing community members of concern.

  • Serves as a member of the Sexual Misconduct Response Team (SRT); serves as an alternate and ad hoc member for the Office of Student Conduct on the Case Assessment, Review, and Evaluation (CARE) Teams for Students of Concern (SOC), Behavioral Intervention (BIT), and Threat Assessment (TAT); serves as the on-call Dean of Students’ staff member on a rotating basis; and serves on Department, Division, and University program initiatives and committees.

  • Skill in writing concise, logical, analytical reports to convey complex issues.

  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs.  

  • Ability to work as part of a University-wide community to resolve complaints in a neutral and sensitive manner.  

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with staff at all levels at the University.  

  • Ability to read and inter50ret complex legal documents to evaluate their impact on University policy and procedures.  

  • Working knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations including Title IX, due process protections as they apply to Student Conduct proceedings, the Clery Act, VAWA and FERPA.

Position Requirements

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience in a college or university conduct process; administrative, civil rights, or law investigations; or other related field. Graduate Assistantship, internship, or practicum experience may be considered. 

Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree and two or more years of relevant experience in a college or university conduct process; administrative, civil rights, or law investigations; or other related field; significant experience conducting investigations alleging discrimination based on sex, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence; demonstrated experience working with individuals who may be in distress and/or handling difficult interactions; demonstrated commitment to working with multicultural populations, and an awareness of issues affecting women, minorities, and persons with disabilities; knowledge, experience, and training in handling issues related to gender-based violence; superior leadership and management skills, including interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; and excellent presentation and training skills.

Salary Information: Market Range: MR10 plus University benefits
