Job Summary

The Associate Director reports to the Director of Student Conduct and Integrity and serves as a critical member of the department’s leadership team, overseeing the day to day management of departmental activities related to implementation and administration of university policies for student conduct. The Associate Director has oversight and supervision of student conduct personnel and operates with significant autonomy and decision making responsibility. This position involves establishing and maintaining a culture of integrity in alignment with law and campus policy. 

Department Overview

Student Conduct and Integrity supports the university's educational mission and serves the approximately 40,000-student campus by upholding standards of conduct. The office carries out its role by administering a fair and effective disciplinary process, holding students accountable for conduct standards, upholding student rights, and directing student grievances to the appropriate department/individual. Student Conduct and Integrity staff regularly consult with members of the campus community related to addressing behavioral issues that arise during the course of a student's enrollment. This office is currently evaluating opportunities to infuse further student development and inclusive-excellence-focused practices, as well as developing additional conflict resolution pathways. Key Responsibilities

60% - Management, Supervison and Planning

20% - Training, Outreach and Special Projects

20% - Conduct, Adjudication, Student Grievances, Conflict Resolution and Crisis Response

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Development, or other related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Work experience in a higher education setting, preferably in student conduct/student discipline/conflict resolution, educating individuals about policy violations, consequences and strategies to improve behavior and seek assistance when necessary; experience in investigating or adjudicating cases.

Personnel management skills to recruit, train, supervise, motivate, and evaluate professional and student staff.

Strong written communication skills to document findings, develop recommendations, and articulate policies and practices related to student conduct.

Advanced verbal communication skills to facilitate group discussions, deliver training sessions, engage in public speaking, and design and implement educational programs.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, law, or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Experience with UC, federal, and state policies and compliance and ability to explain policies to students, staff and faculty. 

Significant experience with understanding, analyzing, interpreting, evaluate, and apply campus discipline and grievance policies and procedures in accord with University policy and legal requirements, as well as state and federal laws pertaining to student conduct, academic integrity, discipline, sexual violence and sexual harassment, privacy, discrimination, due process, and related fields. 

Salary Information

 $69,600/yr. - $124,200/yr.
