Position Description

Support Director in managing the Office of Student Conduct including the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities, related policies, and procedures in coordination with numerous campus offices such as Housing and Residence Life, Student Life, Public Safety, and Associate Dean of Students/Title IX Coordinator; develop and implement educational programming; consult with students and staff on a broad range of student behavior issues including but not limited to classroom disruption, sexual misconduct, alcohol and drug abuse, and other behavioral issues; supervise a graduate assistant and occasional graduate and professional practicum personnel.

Position Requirements

  • Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities: Interpret and administer the Ball State Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. Collaborate with the Director in the annual review, editing, and updating of the Code to ensure alignment with legal requirements and university mission.
  • Investigation, Adjudication, and Hearings: Investigate and adjudicate alleged Code violations for individual students and student organizations. Serve as a hearing officer for Title IX and sexual harassment and misconduct cases. Oversee the tracking and completion of Academic Ethics sanctioning.
  • Administrative Responsibilities and Maxient Management: Maintain accurate student records within Maxient case management system, utilizing the platform to manage caseloads and office workflows. Serve as a resource for students, parents, and employees regarding conduct policies and campus resources. Maintain accurate and up-to-date office web pages and marketing initiatives.
  • Supervision and Staff Development: Supervise, orient, and train one Graduate Assistant and/or graduate practicum student. Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship to direct reports to support their professional growth.
  • Education and Training: Develop and coordinate training for University Hearing board members.
  • Committee Leadership and Participation: Serve as an active member of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), the Exceptional Admissions Committee (reviewing applicants with felony disclosures or involuntary separations), and other divisional or university committees as assigned.
  • Compliance and Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with the Director on strategic office functions, including assessment activities and curriculum development. Provide support in ensuring compliance with federal and state statutes, including the Clery Act, Title IX, Title VI, and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.
  • Student and Crisis Support: In collaboration with the Director and the Dean of Students, provide guidance, support, and facilitate connections to appropriate university and community resources. Support behavioral intervention efforts and support for students facing crises to ensure a coordinated support network.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
