ASCA Marketing & Communications Coordinator

ASCA Central Office - Remote Position (Full-Time)

Position Type: Full-time, 40 hrs/week, remote with minimal required travel that may involve evenings/weekends

Reports To: Dr. Tess Barker, Executive Director

Supervisory Responsibility: Not applicable

Position Overview: The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will develop and lead the marketing and communications strategy for the Association for Student Conduct Administration’s (ASCA). As a member of ASCA’s Central Office team, this position will serve as a generalist with key responsibilities including: developing and leading a communications strategy, including writing, editing, creating social media content; website management; project management; and production and design of informational and promotional materials and presentations including marketing, media, and publications. The ideal candidate will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously; balance creativity and design and analytic and problem solving skills; and be able to work both independently as well as collaboratively. 

Essential Responsibilities

Marketing & Communications: 

  • Write, edit, design, and produce content to promote the value of the Association and its programs to members and other constituent groups.
  • Assist in promoting events and programs through e-mail, news features, articles, newsletters, infographics, website, social media, etc.
  • Develop ASCA brand guidelines, logos, and related collateral.
  • Design, order, and prepare presentations and displays, including branded items (i.e., giveaways), for marketing the Association. 
  • Maintain a tracking system for project timelines and costs.
  • Write, edit, and coordinate the development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures.
  • Serve as liaison for design and marketing content for ASCA publications and initiatives.

Website & Media:

  • Work with commercial web design platforms to maintain website content and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Support social media strategy and track metrics for all website and social networking activities, including social media platforms maintained by ASCA Regions, Committees, and Communities of Practice.
  • Monitor social media outlets on a daily basis and provide prepared content.
  • Research and create presence on new social media outlets 

Strategy Support:

  • Assist with development and implementation of a 365-communications plan and liaison with internal and external partners for effective positioning and messaging.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to determine communication/marketing needs and develop appropriate campaigns.
  • Analyze and understand industry and Association to identify newsworthy items for dissemination through appropriate channels.
  • Identify content opportunities and work with internal and external partner to develop content.

Research & Relations:

  • Research and implement technology to improve Association.
  • Collaborate with ASCA staff to ensure that key staff members are kept informed regarding communications efforts, pending projects, and metrics to provide enhanced educational opportunities for the Association. 
  • Assist with building and cultivating strong relations between ASCA, industry, and partners, as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with communicating ASCA programs and services to increase exposure of Association and industry.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Must be available remotely from 8 am - 5 pm Eastern, with reliable internet and dedicated workspace.
  • Must be able to respond to multiple requests, meet competing deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
  • Must complete work within enough time to receive and implement feedback to match Association needs.

Travel:

  • Mandatory travel occurs for in-person events including, but not limited to: Donald D. Gehring Academy & Annual Conference (costs covered by Association).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum two years of communications and/or marketing experience
  • Demonstrated experience with writing, media relations, social media, web editing, graphic design, video editing, and project management.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, website content management systems, HTML, Adobe, Photoshop, spreadsheet, presentation, and database programs.

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ communications and/or marketing experience
  • Experience working with remote teams
  • Experience working at either a higher education institution or a 501(c)(3) organization
  • Experience with ASCA platforms including GrowthZone, Google Suite, Wordpress, and Guidebook

Compensation:

  • Salary range is $50,000-$54,000 annually, commensurate with experience
  • Competitive benefits package including health/vision/dental, PTO, and retirement match
