A Message from the ASCA Interim Executive Director about ASCA Central Office Transitions

ASCA Chats News

ASCA's Central Office is in a time of transition. While we will miss her contributions to the Association, we are proud to announce that our Deputy Director, Christine Simone will be leaving ASCA on Friday, July 29, 2022 for a new professional position supporting Higher Education administrators' growth and development. Expect to hear more soon about how the Central Office will restructure to best prepare and support the student conduct administrators of today and tomorrow.
Thommy McGowan, the long-time frontline person for our Central Office, will step into the Deputy Director role in the interim and focus on enhancing the member experience and connection to the Association. I invite you to take a moment to join us as we say thank you to our departing Central Office staff for their accomplishments on our behalf.

Zoom Celebration – Friday 07/29 1:00-2:00pm Eastern

A Few Words of Recognition about Christine Simone
Christine Simone has been an invaluable member of our Association and Central Office for a decade and her service significantly impacted our Association's success. “One of the highlights of working for ASCA has been the opportunity to work with Christine as both a volunteer and the Deputy Director. She has always been focused on the needs of the Association's members and growing the profession,” Thommy McGowan said. “Three words come to mind when I think of Christine: supervisor, colleague, and most importantly friend. I look forward to seeing all of the great things she will continue to accomplish in the future.”

Simone began her involvement with ASCA as an annual conference committee member and has since contributed to the success of 10 consecutive conferences in five locations. She also served on the ASCA Board of Directors prior to beginning her professional role with the Association in January 2019.

During her tenure, Simone's strategic and analytical strengths were valuable in the creation of multiple Association-wide initiatives such as the ASCA Analytics benchmarking database and the development of ASCA's first online learning management system. Simone's behind-the-scenes leadership has been the key to numerous organization processes and procedures, professional development training opportunities, and volunteer engagement, having participated in nearly all aspects of Association management. She played vital roles in the operationalization of two strategic plans and the increase in Gehring Academy attendance by 60 percent in a single year.

“ASCA has been my professional home throughout my career, and I look forward to seeing the Association continue to grow and create positive impacts on the profession,” Simone said. “This organization has not only provided me countless opportunities but has cultivated lasting collegial friendships for which I am grateful.”

In this time of transition, ASCA invites you to share appreciation for Christine Simone's service to the Association.
