Part of our Conference Highlights series! Consequences, compassion, CARE, and common sense are key in case resolution. This session explores balancing accountability with compassion, encouraging resource use, and fostering self-efficacy. Through discussions and scenarios, participants will learn how conduct and CARE professionals can support students while maintaining a compassionate, yet accountable, approach.

Dr. Veneta Fricks (She/Her) Dr. Veneta Fricks is the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Central Arkansas, overseeing conduct adjudication, alcohol and drug education, and mental health services. With over a decade in student affairs, her experience includes housing, student advising, and managing complex cases involving policy violations, mental health crises, and student advocacy. She has been instrumental in strengthening campus support systems through leadership on the University CARE Team, educational programming, and individualized advocacy. Her work fosters student success by balancing empathy with accountability. Dr. Fricks holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Leadership Studies and is a certified Mental Health First Aid Instructor. Passionate about student empowerment, she is committed to creating spaces where students feel supported, develop self-efficacy, and take responsibility for their growth.
