"Everyone Does Student Conduct”: The Need for a Collaborative Approach to Addressing Conduct Issues

“Everyone Does Student Conduct" argues that addressing student behavior is a shared campus responsibility. Effective conduct processes require collaboration among faculty, staff, administrators, and campus partners. Through early intervention, consistent communication, and integrated support, institutions can strengthen accountability, promote equitable outcomes, clarify roles, improve coordination, and foster student development, success, and institutional integrity.

Dr. Shay Gresham Howard (She/Her)
Shay Gresham Howard, JD, EdD, is an attorney, educator, and organizational leader with experience in higher education, law, strategic planning, and compliance. She is an adjunct professor at Trevecca Nazarene University, teaching doctoral-level Strategic Planning and Policy and guiding emerging leaders in applying evidence-based strategies to organizational challenges. Previously, she was Interim Dean of Students and Assistant Dean of Student Conduct at Tennessee State University, where she led student conduct, assessment, intervention, and support initiatives. Dr. Gresham Howard is Director At Large for Historically Underrepresented Institutions for ASCA. She earned her JD from the University of Kentucky College of Law, an EdD in Professional Practice and Leadership, and an Executive MBA. As a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Shay is dedicated to leadership, organizational excellence, student development, and community engagement. Dr. Dorothea Mack 
Dr. Dorothea Mack serves as Associate Dean, Title IX Investigator, and Interim Director of Housing and Residential Life at New College of Florida. In these roles, she oversees the student conduct process, conducts Title IX investigations, and provides leadership for residential life. She leads student education and training initiatives focused on hazing and bullying prevention and brings more than 17 years of experience in Student Affairs, with expertise in Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Conduct, Student Organizations and Leadership, and Data Assessment and Research. Dr. Mack currently serves on the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) Board of Directors as Director-at-Large for Small Institutions. She is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
