Part of our Conference Highlights Series! This webinar examines how autism and other neurodivergent differences can shape student behavior, communication, and participation in campus conduct processes. Participants will explore common misinterpretations, review brief case examples, and learn practical strategies to improve access, communication, and fairness while maintaining accountability within student conduct systems.

Learning Outcomes:

• Participants will be able to identify how autistic and neurodivergent traits may influence communication, behavior, and participation in student conduct processes and apply this understanding when interpreting student behavior and responses.
• Participants will be able to apply inclusive strategies during conduct intake, meetings, and hearings to improve clarity, access, and equitable participation for neurodivergent students.
• Participants will be able to recognize situations in which behavior may be misinterpreted due to communication differences or processing styles and adjust questioning and communication approaches accordingly.

Presenter Information & Bio:

Jennifer Grelak, M.A.

Jennifer Grelak, M.A., is an Academic Program Coordinator at the University of Delaware, where she works in an autism support program for college students. She has more than 15 years of experience in higher education and has served in multiple student conduct roles, including Academic Integrity Case Manager, Student Conduct Advisor, Hearing Officer, and Interim Conduct Administrator. Her work focuses on improving the accessibility and fairness of student conduct processes for neurodivergent students while maintaining institutional accountability. Jennifer holds a B.A. in English Literature and Culture from the University of Baltimore and an M.A. in Leadership in Disability Services from the University of Delaware. She is currently completing an Ed.D. in Community College Leadership at Morgan State University.
