SUMMARY:Accountability and Care: Student Conduct's Role in Reducing Harm and Supporting Substance Use Recovery
DESCRIPTION:It is not uncommon for student conduct officers to handle cases related to alcohol or drug policy violations\, and while many are one-time situations with limited consequences for the students involved\, some of the students we encounter are experiencing more serious substance use disorders. This presentation will not only offer ways that student conduct officers can work with campus and community resources to provide recovery support\, but also how we can take a proactive approach to addressing substance use concerns on our campuses. Presenter: Alex Schwartz Assistant Dean of Student Support\, University of Michigan-Flint Note: This session is being offered free to ASCA members in collaboration with the 2026 Conference on Addiction & Recovery at Austin Community College\, a virtual event centered on multidisciplinary approaches to substance use and mental health care.
