Enhance your student conduct and general higher education knowledge through shared reflections and tools from the ASCA HUI CoP Co-Chairs.  Through honest dialogue, practical tools, and shared lessons, we’ll explore essential skills and strategies to help you navigate challenges, build confidence, and thrive as a new professional in the field.

Presenter Information & Bios:

Ty Torres (She/Her) Ty Torres serves as the Associate Director of Community Standards & Student Conduct at Highline College (the most diverse higher education institution in the state of Washington.) Within her role she oversees an office of one and maintains compliance with all student conduct processes related to non-Title IX sexual misconduct, behavioral misconduct, and academic dishonesty. Ty also serves as the Co-Chair for CARE and sits on a variety of committees across campus such as BIRT, Anti-Hazing, and Housing. Ty brings a robust experience of working with diverse student populations, including refugees, international students, students of color, athletics, etc. Ty provides 4+ years of related experience, with her previous experience stemming from a nontraditional background focused on hospitality management and residence life. Ty has also previously served as both the Director of Residence Life at William Jewell College and Associate Director of Student Conduct/Residence Life at Rockhurst University. Dr. Sylento R. Lewis (He/Him) Dr. Sylento R. Lewis serves as the Acting Vice President for Student Success and Engagement at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida, where he provides strategic leadership for six residential communities and oversees initiatives that promote student retention, leadership development, campus safety and security, career exploration and graduate pathways, and holistic well-being. With extensive experience in higher education administration, Dr. Lewis is deeply committed to cultivating inclusive environments that foster student growth and academic excellence. His work emphasizes data-informed strategies to enhance student engagement, success, and persistence among diverse populations. A scholar-practitioner, Dr. Lewis focuses on research related to leadership and scholarship reflecting a passion for equity, advocacy, and student empowerment within higher education.
